Cat in the Hat

Fortunately, for the cat (well for me too- but in this case the cat), my husband is sensitive and kind. We finally took Violet to the vet after a couple weeks of a festering sore on her leg. I figured she'd be fine, they have 9 lives right? After Ry's professional veterinarian diagnosis...he has delivered a calf ya know... anyway, he determined she needed stitches. What! Pay money to have someone put a couple stitches in a cat? Sorry to all of you die hard animal lovers, but I can think of better things to do with $85 - ya, after all was said and done,$85! So the vet sends Violet home with a "party hat" and some antibiotics to be given by mouth twice a day for 7 days. Yea, okay...I have a hard time sticking with that for my children. So I have to pry the cat's jaw open -exposing those razor-edged teeth, not to mention inhaling that nasty cat breath- to squirt in some "vanilla flavored" liquid, morning and night. The assistant says, "She should take it just fine because it is "vanilla flavored". I crack up thinking... it's a cat for pete's sake, don't they have like "tuna flavored" medication. Let's just say that Violet doesn't care for vanilla enhanced products... or sombreros for that matter! I have to admit, she really is a darn good kitty!

That picture is hilarious. I think your cat was giving you "the look". I am with you - I can't make sure my kids get their antibiotics, I can't imagine trying to force it down a cat!

We got a cat for Christmas - a little $80 mix from the pet store -- and our "cheap" cat has cost us bunches of money (I could've had a new kitchen table for this price!). When Elvis was 10 weeks old - he got a bad cat cold and the vet labeled him as "failure to thrive". I could tell they thought I was a mean pet owner when I declined the chest xray -- but good grief it was expensive! They gave him an IV of fluids - and meds (two rounds) -- thank goodness he's been healthier since.

Poor cat! Just dump her medicine into a can of tuna! That's what I do to my kids (only CANDY instead.)

That picture is hilarious! And, your post made me laugh! Giving a cat medicine is NOT a fun thing...I feel for ya!

Why are you cutting your cat anyway Deana? Gosh!! :)
I know all about cats and their bills. Our cat ended up with feline lukemia (is that even possible you ask...let me reassure you it is). Anyway a couple of hundred dollars later we had him put to sleep. We couldn't endure his pain any longer or was that our pocketbook hurting???? Anyway good luck with that!

Oh, the memories of our dog getting his eye hurt. I would make Lisa come over and help me give him medicine in his eye and mouth. I had never had a dog before and in hindsight, probably not a big deal. I thought I was going to loose a finger though and it freaked me out. Hey, I finally found the paint can color and have a photocopy of the lid if you still want it....let me know. The collage templates I made myself and when I get some time will be offering some freebies on my blog. Cute kittie by the way!

Thanks for the reminder on why we do not have pets. I'm such a mean mom. My kids totally would LOVE a cute furry pet. They're so deprived! (really I'm allergic) So they will never experience the joy of a fur ball until they move out.

I'm envisioning Justin and I pinning down a child and force feeding some nasty meds to them. You are a better woman than I. (but we already knew that)
