Life Has More Details!

A few weeks ago Saedra's KE tumbling and dance group got to perform at the state fair. They looked cute...even under the pounds of make-up they have to wear. Her favorite part is the hip hop dancing {of course} and she's working hard to get her round-off back hand-spring. We had to indulge in some "fair food"... Mr.B's fave, DEEP FAT FRIED DILL PICKLES. They were actually quite tasty (smothered in ranch). It was so blasted hot that day, but we had to stay to go on a few rides - and "a few" was all she could handle!

Then their team walked in the parade in Mesa for Veteran's Day. It was a little (a lot!) boring! It's sad how the parades here are so pathetic - I was especially disappointed that no one threw out any candy! There were no clowns tying balloons into poodles and selling snow cones. Where the heck was the square dancing float? Sheesh! But I didn't go for that anyway... really, I didn't! We went for this...After the parade we took Saedra to get her eyes checked. She's been complaining she needs glasses for months, but... well, okay... I didn't believe her - but let me explain. A couple years ago we thought she had a hearing problem because she wouldn't respond sometimes when we would talk to her and she would say she didn't hear us and she needed her ears checked. So being the concerned caring parental units that we are, we had her ears checked. Turns out it just a "listening" problem. (Hmmmm...) So I finally cave and take her in. The Doc asks her to read line 6 and she says, "I don't see a six". Then when he points to the line and asks her to read across, she says, "I think I see a... ummm... twelve". So this one is a little small, but there are no numbers on line 6!
I told Kendree I'm waiting for her to say she sees an elephant on line 7. We were giggling so hard... meanwhile feeling like I'm such a loser Mom. She may not need hearing aids, but turns out she DOES need... and the first thing she said was, "Wow Mom, life has more detail!"

Saedi looks so cute in her glasses. I remember the first time I got glasses and I could see leaves on the trees - individual leaves - who knew?

Saedi - you are adorable in those new glasses!! :) My sister Hope and a couple cousins just went through the same thing. One of my cousins said, "Mom ,we live around Mountains!!" And he lives in queen creek and is 16. So it is better to find out now than later! :) Have fun with those new glasses! Great pics at the fair. We had fun there too!!

Wow, the fair pictures are amazing! That shouldn't really surprise me, though.

We have the same problem at our house as you do. I always wonder if Dalin really has all the problems he complains about. We thought he had selective hearing, as you described, but turns out he needed tubes and really couldn't hear. So when it came to the eyes, I rushed him in, not to make the same mistake again. Turns out he just wanted glasses, like Abby Medley and Bradley in his class at school. Who could have guessed??

The glasses look great!

I totally want to go on that ride and I love the glasses. Elle had a similar experience. So glad life has more details now!

Ok first off isn't a real self esteem boost to got to the fair!? Everytime we go it costs us a fortune and you'd think that the kind of people that attend such a function must be some classy people with lots of moola. Turns out a costly event does not = high society. But I must say it's good entertainment. Oh! and Saedra looks so mature in those cute specs!

Super cute glasses, and she is quite an awesome little dancer too. We saw her dance recital the other night while we were there watching Ashley. What a beautiful girl you have.

And don't feel bad about putting the eye exam off, I totally did the same thing with Ashley. She failed her eye test as soon as she started Kindergarten, I didn't take her until May and it's a pretty strong perscription. The test went along the same lines for us, she is guessing elephants and stars, and I keep telling her "they are letters, sweetie" That is embarassing.
